Watercoloring: swatches and practice…..

Good Morning!
Now that the clocks have been adjusted and Spring is here my Husband, myself and our little furry clan will start to head to the Beach on the weekends. Chincoteague Island has been my “Happy Place” since I was a kid. We have a small cottage that is perfect for weekends.  The only thing it lacks for me is a Studio. So like when we fly around the Country I pack up some stamped images and some sort of coloring medium and use the time to practice.

Which brings me to Watercoloring. If you follow me you will notice that it is not something I do very often. I admit I am intimidated by it! I do however own a lovely set of Kuretake ZIG Clean Color Real Watercolor Brush Pens a Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set and a Prima Tropicals Pan Set. So this Spring I am going to tackle some watercoloring.

Since for me at least, I have a hard time figuring out what the colors are going to look like. I took some time this week to use my Waffle Flower Color Swatch stamp set.  I stamped them on some nice heavy watercolor paper from Stampin’ Up! with Versafine and heat set it.  Then I swatched all my brush pens and pan colors.

The Zigs.

Zigs with two colors blended.

Altenew Pans.
Swatching can be really fun to do. I recently started to keep a swatch sheet of all the Copic color combos we use in class. (This helps me in two ways. 1. I have a starter list of colors for someone just starting out and ask what colors would be good to start with and  2. helps me keep track of colors I use often.)

This is a very versatile set. If you are going to do color swatches I would recommend it!
