Whimsy Stamps Penguin Poop for Father’s Day!

Happy Sunday from Skyway Drive.

Next week is Father’s Day and this week was the For The Guys Class for me over at the Altenew Academy. Two birds with one stone so to speak for me!

My Dad is no longer with us, but I have this awesome Uncle I send cards to, He recently told me “your little note cards lift my spirits”. SO! of course I had to make him one for Father’s Day that was slightly funny!

Recently I reorganized my stamp sets and did a little purging, so I had this set in my mind!  It is from Whimsy Stamps and is called Penguin Poop. I picked the sentiment because it brought to mind “Dad Jokes”.

I started my layers as usual with a white card base, adding Bazzill Licorice and some black striped paper from Echo Park. I cut all my layers with My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Rectangle Dies.  On the top layer I took some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Salty Ocean and made a spot of color that I then splattered some water on to get that neat background.
I then stamped the sentiment in Versafine and heat embossed it with clear powder. I took a scrap square of the Hammermill, which I prefer to color on and placed it in my Stamparatus and stamped my heart and my penguin with Gina K amalgam black.  I did this because I wanted to emboss the penguin and you cannot do that before you color, it will ruin your copic.  I colored the heart and the penguin and placed it back in the Stamparatus and stamped it again this time with Versafine. Then clear heat embossed it, giving him a bit of shine.
The Brother Scan N Cut gave me perfectly cut out images! Before adding them, I placed some silver twine as a balloon string. I mounted them both to the background piece with foam squares. Three clear dew drops from My Favorite Things and a little white gel pen in the balloon were the finishing touch!

I hope my funny Penguin lifted your spirits as it is destined to next Sunday for my Uncle Bob!

Oh Jeanie! I do believe Uncle Bob’s gonna love this. I can see him chuckle in my head. I love when people tell me about how my cards touched them , or how they save them, or reuse them!

So cute and COOL! Thanks for the tips on making the card. I have some Distress Oxides and have never even opened them. I don't even remember why I bought them. I always like to see the products you use and where you can order them.

Nancy, you never know how much a simple card can mean to a person. I just love that Uncle Bob refered to them as “my little note cards”.
