Welcome to my second Altenew Educator Academy Class!
For this class I am using the Altenew stamp set Hyacinth. Yes! Shout out to Ramsey Alexander AGAIN for the use of this stamp set.
Remember in my last class post I said I had a hard time eyeballing the layers? Well after reviewing the videos for the class I realized I had been stamping them backwards! When I learned two step or layer stamping way back when I learned lightest ink and largest area first. NOPE! Incorrect, start with the darkest color and the smallest and build out. Game Changer! This card was SO much easier to do than the first one.
I experimented a lot with colors for this one, settling with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. For the flower I am using abandoned Coral for the darkest part and Dried Marigold for the other two layers and Old Paper for the centers. I chose Crushed Olive and Shabby Shutters for the stem and leaves.
Next I worked up my base card. Since the intent of this post is to show you layered stamping I tried to keep the card layers and colors simple. As usual I started with a base of Neenah Solar White followed by Stampin’ Up! Grapefruit Grove, then a layer of Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid in Spring both cut with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Die. The final layer is also Neenah white cut with a retired Stampin’ Up! Label Die and mounted on Darice Fun Foam for dimension and stability.
Now for the fun part! I decided to use both of the flowers and stamped them using the two coral colors on Gina K. Artist Choice 110lb, it seemed to give me the smoothest coverage.
Once all the main flower parts were stamped I added in the stems
and leaves.
I was slightly off on the smaller flower and since I was going to use it behind the bigger one I didn’t stress too much or redo it. This could have been alleviated if I had used a stamp positioner, but I really wanted to try and eye ball the placement.
I cut the flowers with the dies in my Gemini Jr., then set about to assemble my card. I laid the smaller flower flat with the larger on top secured by dimensionals. I then stamped a sentiment and added that along with three iridescent clear dew drops to finish off my card.
I really love the sentiment set and dies I used for this card. They are from Neat & Tangled and the link to purchase them and all the other supplies I used are below in the Clickable Shopping List. Thanks for learning along with me!

Ramsey! You were able to FINALLY leave a comment. Yahooooooo. Thanks again to you and Susan for supplying me with Altenew stamps. Ya’ll are really THE BEST❣️
Jill, you have outdone yourself! I only wish I had more stamps to loan you so I had more cards to case!!!!
Nancy, you would totally rock these Altenew stamps! You should try them out in August when we have our “retreat”! And honestly you only need two shades of color to make three……
Oh, so nice Jill.! I thought you colored this card when I first saw it. I am very happy for all the color variations using the stamps. There is hope for me.. Have a blessed day. 🙂
