First Birthday using Penny Black

Good Morning from lovely San Diego California!  Yes, we are on the go again. The is the second time this year we are in San Diego and are hoping for better weather this go around. California seems to be a popular place for Hubby’s meetings as we will be in San Francisco in June. I am really lucky to be able to visit places all over the US. What is your favorite place to visit?

With six grandchildren and lots of Nieces and Nephews  I make special Birthday cards quite often.  This past week was no different. Our youngest Granddaughter turns ONE on May 19. I cannot believe it has been almost a year already.

I may be biased, but she is a cutie!

Having just taken a class with Nancy of Rowhouse Greetings, using this Penny Black set I thought this little image would be perfect. I was excited to do this class since I already own the stamp set.

Josie is a little peanut and this stamp captured that girly vibe I wanted.

I made the layers with this super old Labels die set from Stampin’ Up! I tend to hold onto layering dies since layering is my “style”.

Having all the layers done in So Saffron Yellow I decided to make the  flower pink. It balanced out nicely. Check out the cute present hanging from the flower.

I grounded the flower by adding a bit of grass. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from a great Flora & Fauna set. I stamped it in Versafine and clear embossed it. I do this quite a bit as you may have noticed. I like that it makes the sentiment a dark black with a bit of shine to stand out. Finally I placed five (always an odd number) Rainbow Rhinestones in different sizes. These are from Honey Bee Stamps and are now retired 😢. Honey Bee has a great assortment of embellishments and I have to admit I am addicted to them. Dew Drops are my all time favorite. Do you have a “go to” ?

I know that year has gone quick! The weather has been pretty good for the most part. Cannot wait to see you in a couple weeks.

Hi Jill I hope you are enjoying your trip. I hope the weather is good. These are adorable cards. I can't believe Josie is almost a year old.
Have a blessed day. 🙂
